According to reports by Evrensel from schools in Ankara's Sincan district, the new academic year began with teacher shortages, inadequate cleaning and security personnel, and unreceived textbooks; one teacher said there was no soap or toilet paper in the restrooms.
One parent said that his son never used the toilets at school last year because they were dirty. A teacher said that basic needs could not be met due to insufficient staff and resources. Some families are considering private schools because of this.
