University students renting homes for the new academic year are turning to spot second-hand shops; vendor Mehmet Sönmez said basic goods cost at least 50 thousand lira (TL) second-hand, and 70-80 thousand TL when bought brand new.
Sönmez explained that four white goods cost 20,000 lira, and with the addition of a sofa set, bed base and wardrobe, the total cost reaches 50,000 lira. He also added that this customer group has seen a decline due to the spread of ready and furnished homes.
