Türkiye aims to utilize thorium resources in Eskişehir and Malatya in new-generation nuclear reactors; work continues in fields in other provinces.
Thorium is considered an alternative fuel raw material because it can be converted into uranium through suitable nuclear processes. However, since this method requires additional technologies, there are currently no commercial-scale thorium-powered plants. Its use is being researched, especially in advanced designs such as molten salt reactors.
