In UI GreenMetric 2026, Türkiye ranked first in Europe and second in the world in the number of universities in the top 200, top 500 and top 1000. It had the most entries on the list, with 150 universities.
According to data shared by YÖK, 2,016 institutions from 110 countries were evaluated. Türkiye, which came first in Europe with 21 universities in the top 200, ranked second in the world with 29 universities, after Indonesia. Istanbul Technical University ranked 28th and Yıldız Technical University ranked 45th.
