What you find here

The front page is the day’s news, newest first. Each story has a headline, a short summary, the list of its sources and a link to each one. When an event goes on for days, the story keeps one page and adds each new development to it.

There are also pages for markets, match results, the Official Gazette, the people in the news, world clocks and a few calculators.

How a story is made

We follow a fixed list of Turkish and foreign news outlets through the day. When several of them report the same event, their reports become one story. We write a short summary from those reports and publish it in every edition’s language.

Before a summary goes out, it is checked against its sources. A summary that says something its sources do not say is not published.

Sources and balance

We place every outlet in one of five groups: state, pro-government, independent, opposition and foreign. Each story shows which groups its sources come from, so you can see where the report came from before you read it.

When only one outlet reports a story, the story says “single source”. When outlets disagree on a fact, the story says “reports differ” and shows where they differ, without taking a side.

We aim for a balanced mix across the day, not inside every single story. Some events are covered by one side only, and hiding that would also be a distortion.

Wording

• We use neutral words, and the names people and parties use for themselves.
• A claim is attributed to whoever made it. It is not stated as a fact.
• We publish no opinion pieces and support no party, candidate or policy.

People in the news

We report on public figures in their public roles, and on institutions. We do not publish the private data of private people: no home addresses, no ID numbers, no health details, and no names of victims, witnesses or children, even when a source prints them.

Corrections

If a story is wrong, tell us on the corrections page. We check it against the sources and fix the story. We do not delete a story quietly to hide a mistake.

Money

Reading is free. The site carries adverts, which today are for Odun Games’ own products. Adverts are marked and have no say in what we publish.

A paid membership without adverts is planned but not open. The membership page describes it. There will be no members-only stories.
