gazete.app is published by Odun Games Limited Şirketi, a company registered in Türkiye, at Kireçburnu Mah., Sarıyer, İstanbul. For the data described here, we are the data controller.

What we collect

The last row never reaches us. The cookie notice lists every item.
What we do not collect
- No account, no login, no reader profile.
- No advertising identifier and no tracking across other sites.
- No browser fingerprinting.
- No location. The weather box shows the cities you pick; it does not ask where you are.
- Your searches. Search runs inside your browser, on an index it downloads from us. What you type is not sent.
We do not sell or rent data to anyone.
Our page counters
When you read a story, share it, use a tool or answer one of the three questions under a story, your browser sends us a small note. It holds four things: the kind of event, the story or page, the edition and one word of detail, such as “up” or “down”.
It holds no IP address, no browser details, no referring page, no identifier and no time from your device. Our server uses your IP address for a moment to stop floods of requests, then drops it. It is not written anywhere.
If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, the counters stay off.
Your own answers to the feedback questions are also kept in your browser, so the buttons show what you chose. That copy never leaves your device.
The contact form
The form asks only for what the message needs. An e-mail address is optional unless you make a data request or a legal complaint, because then we must answer you.
When you send the form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is sending it, not a program. To stop repeated sending, our server keeps a scrambled form of your IP address for one day, then deletes it. The address itself is not stored.
Photos and links from other sites
Story photos load directly from the site that published them. Photos on the who-is-who pages load from Wikimedia Commons. To show a photo, your browser asks that site for it, so that site sees your IP address and browser type. We tell your browser not to send the address of our page with that request.
Every story links to its sources. When you follow a link, you leave gazete.app, and that site’s own rules apply.
Advertising
The adverts on gazete.app today are for Odun Games’ own products. They are images served from our own domain. There is no ad network, no ad script and no ad tracker.
An advert links to an address on our own site. That address reads your browser type once, to send you to the right app store, and stores nothing.
If we ever add an advertising partner, we will update this notice and the cookie notice first, and we will ask for your permission before anything of theirs loads.
Who else sees data
- Cloudflare, our host. It delivers the pages, blocks attacks, runs our page counters and Web Analytics, and stores contact form messages. Cloudflare acts on our instructions.
- The sites that publish story photos, and Wikimedia Commons, as described above.
- Public authorities, only when the law requires it.
Nobody else.
Transfers outside Türkiye
Cloudflare runs a worldwide network, so the data above may be processed outside Türkiye and outside the European Economic Area. These transfers follow Article 9 of Türkiye’s personal data law (KVKK) and, for readers in Europe, Cloudflare’s data processing terms, which include the EU standard contractual clauses.
Legal grounds
- Legitimate interest for request data, security, page counters and ordinary messages: running a safe site and knowing what is read. KVKK Article 5(2)(f); GDPR Article 6(1)(f).
- Legal obligation for data requests and legal complaints: the law says we must answer them and keep a record. KVKK Article 5(2)(ç); GDPR Article 6(1)(c).
How long we keep it
- Request logs: up to 7 days.
- Page counters: 3 months. They are counts and cannot be traced to a person.
- Contact messages and correction requests: 12 months after the last message on the matter. A published correction stays on the story, without your name or address.
- Data requests: 3 years after we close them, to show that we answered.
- Legal complaints about a story: 2 years.
After that, the data is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us:
- whether we hold data about you, and for a copy;
- to correct it or delete it;
- to stop or limit a use of it;
- who we passed it to.
You can also object to a use based on our legitimate interest, and complain to a supervisory authority: in Türkiye the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK), in Europe the authority of your country.
To use a right, choose “a request about my personal data” in the contact form, or send a signed letter to our address. We answer within 30 days, free of charge. We may ask for one detail to confirm that the request is yours.
The KVKK notice gives the same information in the form Turkish law asks for.
Children
gazete.app is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
When this notice changes, the date and version at the top change.
