Death toll rises to 15 in ship sinking off Girne, detentions extended in investigation

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that the body of one more person had been recovered from the "Filo Jet" ship that sank on August 30, bringing the death toll to 15, with 13 people still being searched for. Detention was extended by seven days for nine suspects in the investigation; police reported that more than 300 statements had been taken.

The ship's black box has not yet been reached. An expert delegation from Türkiye was invited. Of the nine suspects in custody, eight are ship crew and one is a company employee.
