At the presentation in the Republic Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz described the project as a "hallmark project"; the complex will be built across an area of approximately 56,000 square meters with an 8,000-person capacity. Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak said a multifunctional stadium will be constructed in the city center.
The complex is designed to international standards. Yılmaz said they planned a stadium that was alive and integrated with the city. Views of federations and the sports community will be sought in the project.
