Public gathering held in Foça against mayor's switch to AKP

Reacting to Foça Mayor Saniye Fıçı, elected from CHP in the 2024 local elections, resigning and joining the AK Party (AKP), citizens gathered in the square upon a call by the "Foça Defends Its Democratic Will Initiative" and called for her resignation.

Ramis Sağlam, spokesperson for the Foça Platform Against Historical and Natural Destruction, described Fıçı's transition as 'theft of will' and reminded of the cove sales despite election promises. The gathered crowd chanted 'Saniye Fıçı resign'. It was claimed that the mayor sold Karakum Cove 'for next to nothing'.
