The Foreign Ministry of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) stated that the re-emerged "rotating presidency" model is diametrically opposed to the country's policy of sovereign equality and equal international status.
The Ministry stated that the model is an element of a process that was negotiated for decades but collapsed due to the Greek Cypriot side's uncompromising stance. It emphasized that the existence of two separate peoples and states living side by side on the island is a fundamental reality.
