AK Party (AKP) Head of Election Affairs Ali İhsan Yavuz said that if the parliament renews the elections, President Erdoğan can run again, noting that bringing the date forward by one week would be sufficient.
Yavuz said that elections will be held in May 2028 according to the normal schedule, but if the TBMM takes a decision to renew elections with 360 deputies, Erdoğan can be a candidate again. He said, 'A decision taken shortly before the time is considered timely.' He also added that the party has not yet made a decision in this direction.
