Excavations at Yassıtepe Mound in İzmir's Bornova district, led by Assoc. Prof. Zafer Derin, show evidence of planned urban life and a trade order dating back about 5,000 years.
The excavation team found a settlement layout arranged in a fan-shape with temples, storage, production and workshop areas. Products were stored in large jars, while grapes were turned into wine and molasses. It is noted that the city walls protected economic wealth.

It was determined that the cuneiform tablet piece found in Hattuşa, the Hittite capital in Çorum, belongs to one of the copies of the Kadesh Peace Treaty. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced the discovery.
