What we correct
- A wrong fact: a name, a number, a date, a place, a title, who said what.
- A summary that does not match what its source says.
- A source link that points to the wrong report.
- A translation that changes the meaning.
What is not a correction
If a source reported something and we summarised it correctly, the disagreement is with that source. Its link is on the story.
Tell us anyway if you think our choice of sources gave a one-sided picture. The mix is our responsibility.
What happens next
- We check your message against the reports the story was written from.
- If the story is wrong, we fix it on the same page. The story shows the time of the change.
- If the source was wrong and we repeated it, we say so and name the source.
- If the story is right and you left an e-mail address, we tell you why we think so.
We do not delete a story quietly. If a story has to come down, its page stays with a note that says why.
