According to Interbank Card Center (BKM) data, payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in August rose 39% year-on-year to 2.9904 trillion lira (TL). The total number of cards increased 4% to 478 million.
Credit cards accounted for the bulk of payments with 2 trillion 537 billion lira. Transactions made with cards rose 11 percent to nearly 2 billion. While the number of credit cards increased 11 percent, prepaid cards fell 5 percent.
