According to a report by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, Türkiye's emissions reached 610.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2025; this was the highest percentage increase among the 16 largest emitting countries. The global increase over the same period was 0.7%.
Türkiye was followed by Vietnam at 2.7 percent, the US at 2.2 percent, and Canada at 1.9 percent. China, the world's largest emitter, saw a 0.1 percent increase, while six major polluting countries recorded declines.
