Short-term external debt stock rose to $177.1 billion in July

According to Central Bank (TCMB) data, short-term external debt stock rose 3.8% month-on-month to $177.1 billion in July, or $248.1 billion on a remaining-maturity basis. Bank-originated debt stock rose 4.3% to $77.8 billion.

The bank-originated stock rose 4.3 percent monthly to $77.8 billion, while short-term loans and securities liabilities used by domestic banks from abroad increased 23.5 percent to $9.8 billion. Other sectors' debt rose 3.6 percent to $74.7 billion. Total lira-denominated deposit liabilities fell 0.5 percent.
