Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) President Tufan Erhürman said at the opening that what happened there "will never be erased from the memory of the Turkish Cypriot people," and described the European Parliament's decisions on the missing as "biased and in no way acceptable."
Erhürman said the museum would be an important place keeping the memory of the martyrs alive. He stressed that the issue of missing persons should not be politicised. At the ceremony, the names of 15 martyrs, the youngest of whom was 40 days old, were commemorated.
