Some consumers alleged tech stores refuse to sell new iPhone models without purchasing additional comprehensive insurance or warranty packages worth roughly 28,000 lira (TL). Trade Ministry Advisor Bekir Kaplan reiterated that the sale of any good cannot be made conditional upon purchasing another good or service.
The Ministry Advisor emphasized that under Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, sales cannot be conditioned on the purchase of another product. According to complaints, it was alleged that an insurance package was imposed during the sale of devices from the shelf and that customers who refused were not sold the product.
