Ersoy announces 80 percent of Haydarpaşa piles have perished

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that 80 percent of the wooden piles in the foundation have perished, that injection is being applied against the risk of liquefaction, and that the first phase will be completed in 2027 under the renewed schedule.

Ersoy said that as a result of the original projects and georadar examinations, only 200 of the 1,000 piles remain in place. The piles were 8 to 21 meters long. The most comprehensive restoration works since the opening in 1909 are being carried out.
