Yenilik Party Chair Öztürk Yılmaz called on Yeni Party to merge due to name similarity. Yılmaz gave until October 5 for an agreement.
Yılmaz, speaking after his party's extraordinary meeting, claimed that around 5,000 members were confused between the two parties. He recalled that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Cassation had notified Yeni Party of a name change on grounds of 'confusion'.
