The Police Organisation Union (Emniyet Teşkilatı Sendikası) will stage a nationwide walkout on 28 September over economic problems and working conditions. The General Directorate of Security (Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü) announced that the action covers civilian staff, not police officers.
The union said seven members of the organisation had lost their lives in the last five days when it took the decision. In a social media statement, the General Directorate of Security said the walkout was the decision of the union whose members are civilian staff, adding that claims of a police walkout did not reflect the truth.
