AK Party Elections Affairs Chair Ali İhsan Yavuz said elections are normally scheduled for May 2028 and that they want the Assembly to decide on renewal. He noted that even a short advance would open the way for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy.
Yavuz stated at the programme in Ağrı that even a short-term early move would make candidacy possible and emphasised 'time to work'. He said that a decision to be taken by the Assembly with the support of 360 deputies would consider the election as having been held on time.
