The Environmental Impact Assessment (ÇED) public participation meeting for the planned sulfuric acid facility in Körfez district of Kocaeli could not be held due to residents' reactions. Company officials left the hall without keeping minutes.
At the meeting held at Tütünçiftlik Cultural Center in Körfez, citizens who reacted with whistles, horns and applause demanded that it be recorded in the minutes that the meeting could not be held. The project is planned to produce 200,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year in Kabakoz neighborhood with an investment of approximately 900 million lira.
