US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump had a brief meeting at the UN dinner and that there was great harmony between them. He attributed the lack of a bilateral meeting to their frequent contacts.
The remarks were made in front of Türkevi in New York. Barrack said that although the two leaders come from different cultures, they resemble each other greatly and there are not many new topics to address. He stated that Türkiye has been a great friend of the US during tense periods, played an important role in the Iran talks, and expressed hope that the dialogue continues.
