CHP expels three district mayors, refers two others for discipline

CHP decided to definitively expel the mayors of Kadıköy, Sancaktepe and Sarıyer. CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced that the mayors of Konyaaltı and Alanya had also been referred for discipline with a request for definitive expulsion.

Sarı said working for another political party while a party member was a disciplinary offence. He said the two other mayors referred for discipline were Konyaaltı Mayor Cem Kotan and Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik.

19 Sept 2026 07:50 CHP expels Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer The CHP Supreme Disciplinary Committee expelled Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer under Article 68/1-b of the party charter; the committee also removed the files of nine MPs who joined the YENİ Party from consideration. Tuncer said he found the decision, issued without granting him the right to defense, "unjust and unlawful."
