In an investigation by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into three municipalities, 59 suspects were detained, including Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer, Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer. Seçer's home was searched.

13 tenders and 63 direct procurements at Mersin Metropolitan Municipality were placed under review. These transactions allegedly caused about 331 million lira in public losses, while those in the Yenişehir and Mezitli municipalities allegedly caused a total of about 1.1 billion lira. Tuncer is also under investigation on a charge of “leading an armed criminal organisation”.
