Higher Education Council sends letter to universities: "Terror-Free Türkiye" to be covered in first class

In a letter signed by YÖK Chairman Erol Özvar and sent to all universities, it was requested that the goal be covered at 2026-2027 academic year opening ceremonies and first classes, and that panels, conferences and workshops be organized.

Defence Ministry reacts to Mitsotakis's visit to Meis Island: 'Inconsistent with the island's status'

The Defence Ministry (MSB) said it was closely monitoring Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's visit to Meis Island, stating that under the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty the island holds demilitarized status and the presence of military elements there does not contribute to peace and stability.

Detention orders for four in investigation into Kozinoğlu's 2011 death

The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued detention orders for the then chief prosecutor, the prison prosecutor and two cellmates in the investigation into the prison death of intelligence agency MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu; three people were detained, while Hasan Atilla Uğur said he would return to Istanbul that evening to give a statement.

Nasuh Mahruki sentenced to 1 year 3 months; announcement of verdict deferred

Bakırköy 57th Criminal Court of First Instance convicted former AKUT chairman Nasuh Mahruki of "publicly inciting hatred and hostility" over a social media post about July 15, deferred the announcement of the verdict, and ordered his release. Mahruki had been arrested on July 17.
