According to August data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the unemployment rate fell 0.3 points to 7.8%, while the idle labour rate rose 0.4 points to 31%. The number of employed people rose by 136,000.
The number of unemployed fell by 106,000 from the previous month to 2.74 million. The youth unemployment rate dropped to 13%. Idle labour covers time-related underemployment, the potential labour force and the unemployed.
