The identities of 5-year-old Mehmet Asaf Biçer and Nihat Pancar, who died when a passenger ship capsized off Girne on 30 August, were confirmed by DNA testing. The death toll rose to 18, and the bodies were buried in Hatay.
The Prime Ministry of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) announced that with the latest body found during search efforts, the death toll had risen to 18. Biçer's funeral was held in Reyhanlı and Pancar's in Samandağ with relatives in attendance.
