The Turkish Defence Ministry said it welcomed the Central Iraqi Government's steps to establish state authority in Sinjar and will gradually hand the Bashiqa-Zilkan camp over to Iraqi authorities.
At its weekly press briefing, the ministry said the camp used by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) against ISIS since 2015 will be transferred on a set timetable as Iraq's security measures in Sinjar progress. It added that Türkiye will continue supporting the Iraqi Armed Forces in military training and defence industry cooperation.
