Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced strict checks on unregistered motorcycle couriers and speeding violations. The number of unregistered motorcycle couriers is estimated at between 500,000 and 1 million.
Çiftçi said speeding was a factor in 57% of fatal motorcycle accidents. He said the number of motorcycles rose by 103% in the 2020-2025 period.
