A 25-article draft bill prepared within the Turkish Health Ministry envisages a levy of 20 lira per pack on tobacco products and 100 lira per kilogram.
Under the draft, a levy of up to 5 lira per 100 millilitres is planned on sugary drinks and 20% of the sale price on snacks. The revenue is aimed to be transferred to a fund to be set up for school meal programmes and public health efforts.
